# Sign-in and sessions

> How you sign in to the workspace, who gets access, and how sign-out works.

## Signing in

* **Email code**: enter your work email on the sign-in page and Amoreg
emails you a six-digit code. The first code you redeem also creates your
Amoreg account, so the same flow signs a new person up.
* **Passkey**: choose **Sign in with a passkey** to use Amoreg's hosted
sign-in page. That page also handles sign-ins that need an extra step, such
as single sign-on, multi-factor authentication or choosing an organization.
If you started with an email code and your organization needs one of those
steps, choose **Continue on the full sign-in page**.

Either way, a successful sign-in gives your browser a workspace session.

## Who gets access

Signing in proves who you are; it does not by itself give access to an
organization. Access requires membership of the organization, or an Amoreg
platform-administrator grant, and the server checks this on each request.
Organization-wide changes additionally require the organization's admin role
or a platform-administrator grant.

Invitations are addressed to an email. If you have no membership in any
organization (and no platform-administrator grant), pending invitations for
your email are accepted automatically when you next sign in. Otherwise,
accept them from the **Inbox**.

## Sessions and sign-out

The workspace session is a host-only, HttpOnly cookie set by the Amoreg
server (SameSite=Lax, Secure); blocking cookies for amoreg.com prevents
sign-in. **Sign out** (in the account menu)
ends the workspace session and your Amoreg sign-in session, so the next
sign-in asks for a code or passkey again.

**Settings → Security** lists where your account is signed in and lets you
sign out any other session, along with your past sign-ins.
